Champions Gujarat crush J&K by an inning and 64 runs

Hosts and defending champions Gujarat inflicted another crushing inning defeat on J&K in the Ranji trophy tournament as they wrapped up four day match in three days at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Surat Gujarat on Thursday.
Gujarat won match by an inning and 64 runs, completely outplaying J&K in both the departments. Hosts earned seven points from the match including a bonus point.
To some extent fate of the match was decided already on second day when Gujarat took first inning lead. But the manner in which J&K batting succumbed in their second inning was not expected. The day started with Gujarat batting carrying on from overnight total of 276 runs for the loss of four wickets. They went on to post 455 runs on board with lead of 194 runs. For Gujarat PC Juneja top scored with brilliant 131 runs while as Chirag Gandhi scored 86. For J&K Manik Gupta took five wickets and skipper Parvez Rasool bagged four wickets.
Needing to first overcome the lead conceded and then put on respected total to defend on board, J&K got to worst start losing first wicket for 12 runs. The whole J&K batting line up was bundled out for 130 runs in only 34.4 overs. For J&K pacer Ramdayal top scored with 29 while as Parvez and Bandeep Singh scored 24 each. For Gujarat Hardik Patel took five wickets while as Piyush Chawla took four wickets. Juneja for his ton was adjudged as man of the match.
It was second big win for defending Ranji champions out of the two matches played in the season. For J&K it was second inning defeat after having put of similar dismal performance against Saurashtra. J&K in its first match against Rajasthan had put on decent show.
